"Origins" Doctor Seth Medical Officer USS Sulu http://come.to/dr.seth Seth had gone to the bridge to speak to Captain Salinger about the planet killer. But the Captain not being present, she'd spoken to Lieutenant Marcus Treymond, who was currently in command of the Sulu, instead. Treymond had found the Doctor's ideas about how to passively defeat the planet killer by out smarting it rather than over powering, it to be interesting. He suggested that she could brief the Captain on her idea once he returned from meeting with the crew of the Teth Garrol. Not knowing how long it would be before the Captain and First officer returned from their meeting, Seth asked the Lieutenant to let the Captain know about her idea. "When Captain Salinger returns and has a moment to discuss my idea, have him give me a hail." Seth asked of the Lieutenant. "I will do that Doctor." Marcus nodded. Seth then turned and exited the bridge. Stepping into the turbolift, she called out, "Sickbay." To start the lift into motion. Seth was pondering over the appearance of this planet killer. It seemed illogical to her Vulcan mind that two such machines could exist. The original machine, discovered by Commodore Decker and Captain Kirk a century earlier, was thought to have been a doomsday machine, created by one side of a warring pair of civilization as a last effort device to wipe out their enemies, and themselves in the process. The machine was designed to destroy entire planetary systems. How could there possibly be two such machines created? And why would this one be unknown for the last hundred years? If it was created by the same civilization that created the first planet killer, wouldn't it have been released and activated at the same time as the first one encountered by Decker? And if that were the case, why wouldn't anyone have noticed entire planetary systems disappearing over the last century while this thing carried out it's primary function? Or was it that this planet killer was a brand new machine, created from the same design plans as the one encountered by Decker and Kirk? If that was the case, then some of the people who created the first planet killing machine must have survived to build this one. If that were true, then maybe there was a way to override the machine's program; A safe set of command codes that could be transmitted to turn the thing off. It followed that if the designers of the first doomsday machine survived to create this second device, that they must not have been suicidal as was first thought by Decker and Kirk. It would only be logical to design in some sort of fail-safe mechanism to allow the thing's creators to deactivate it should something go terribly wrong. If Seth could find out more about the creators of that machine, it might be possible to speculate if such a fail-safe device was part of it's design. "Halt." Seth called out, bringing the turbolift to a complete stop. "Bring me to Stellar Cartography on deck 8." The lift began to again move and soon Doctor Seth found herself on deck 8. Exiting the lift, the half Vulcan, half Betazoid Doctor began to walk down the corridor towards the Stellar Cartography lab.
