Sartok, not an extreme puritan Vulcan isolationist, still had strong opinions and saw the logic in keeping his children in line and teaching them the Vulcan ways of his ancestors.

Because of this, Seth was enrolled in the Vulcan Institute of Defensive Arts when she was five seasons old. He felt it important that Seth, even though being a girl, learnt all of the techniques and practices her forefathers learned before her to better be able to protect herself in the world. It is the one thing Seth appreciates about her father. Being only half Vulcan, Seth had a very rough childhood on Vulcan. The other pupils, most of which were associates of her Father's from the isolationist movement, viewed her as not being a 'pure' Vulcan. They treated her as a less than whole person because of her Betazoid heritage and constant reliance on empathy and emotions.

Seth's mother, Neve Elbrum, would share in her pain. They would often share telepathic conversations about the hardships and prejudices she faced each day in attending school. Living on Vulcan with Sartok and his beliefs was not easy on her mother either being a full Betazoid. Seth and Neve would comfort each other with their thoughts and by playing with Seth's pet selat, I-Chaya.

When Seth was sixteen seasons, she faced her first call of pon farr. Betrothed to Sparuk, the two were joined in a ritualistic Vulcan marriage ceremony. The next season Seth was with child, but the baby would never be born. During one of her Father's isolationist movement rallies, the protest turned violent and both Seth and Sparuk were stricken down as being impure Vulcans. Sparuk fought bravely, but befell fatal injuries. Seth was badly injured as well, with only her father saving her life but at the cost to her unborn child.

After the loss of her husband and unborn child, Sartok seemed even more quiet and distant around his daughter. He insisted that she go away to the Vulcan Science Academy and study under the Kolinahr masters in the ways of science. Drained from years of persecution and the loss of her family, Seth agreed.

Seth excelled in the sciences. She discovered she had a sharp mind for learning and had a certain intuition about science that came more naturally to her than her full Vulcan peers. The Kolinahr masters seemed annoyed with this aspect of their pupil, and did everything they could to discipline Seth in the trained, meditative ways of Vulcan. Seth took the lessons to heart, but still always managed to flash her beautiful smile at the end of each lesson. Much to the dismay of her pure logic instructors.

While Seth was away at the Science Academy on Vulcan, things got worse for her mother Neve back home. Sartok had grown more puritan in his ways and grew more abusive in his relationship with Neve.

In 2352, at Seth's graduation ceremony from the Vulcan Science Academy, her parents announced that they would be separating. Neve Elbrun would be returning to Betazed as she and Seth's father could no longer get along because of his Vulcan ideals.

This put Seth in the middle of things. Her father, Sartok, wanted her to remain on Vulcan and continue her training, in hopes of taking the Kolinahr ritual and purging her mind of all emotions in favor of inner peace and pure logic. It was Sartok's hope that Seth would follow his footsteps and one day take his place as the Security Minister for the planet Vulcan. A prominent and important position.

Her mother, Neve, wanted Seth to leave Vulcan and return with her to Betazed where she planned on returning to her medical practice and exposing Seth to aspects of her Betazoid half so far denied to her on Vulcan.

Seth made her decision based on her 32 seasons of experience on Vulcan. From childhood she'd been treated as an unwanted outsider because of her heritage and appearance. She enjoyed Science and the Arts, but not the puritan, unemotional, pure logic reasoning masters that instructed her. Seth liked to smile. She liked to sing. She liked smelling the flowers and appreciating how wonderfully they smelt. She enjoyed the feel of a cool breeze on her cheeks in the arid Vulcan sun. And she wasn't willing to give those things up for the Kolinahr ritual to please her father, whom she does love dearly, but can never forgive as she feels he is partially responsible for the death of her unborn child and husband at the isolationist rally years before. Seth decided to leave Vulcan and go with her mother. The decision has created a rift between daughter and Father that exists today. Upon her departing from his house Sartok stated in cool, controlled logic, "I no longer have a daughter who is welcome in this house." The words seared Seth's soul and trouble her to this day. Though she has never found the courage to return to Vulcan or face her father over this.

Betazed was a new beginning for Seth. She felt like she had been reborn. The Betazoid people were nothing like her cordial, logical brothers and sisters on Vulcan. They were friendly, open and kind. Seth soon began attending the Academy of Musical Arts where she learned about her passion for music. Seth is an accomplished musician and can play several instruments. Her favorite is the 12 string Vulcan Lute which she enjoys playing beautiful, sad love songs which she sings to with her perfect pitched voice. Her mother has said she sounds like an angel when she sings.

One of the things that struck Seth as different about Betazed was the number of people that communicate telepathically. Back on Vulcan only she and her mother ever would communicate by thought without speaking aloud. On Betazed nearly everyone could telepathically communicate. This fascinated Seth, and caused her to join the Telepathic Academy. It was soon discovered that Seth's unique Betazoid / Vulcan heritage, along with her disciplined Vulcan mind had made her a very astute Telepath. Her abilities as an "untrained" Betazoid, far outstripped the average full blooded Betazoid in most cases. Seth's love of learning and developing her skills in such a loving environment soon gave her the ability to project and read thoughts in telepathic conversations for distances unobtainable by natives with twice her years practicing their skills. Her extensive childhood training by the Vulcan Kolinahr masters had given her the unprecedented ability to shelter her thoughts from others and even penetrate the most resistant of minds such the Ferengi by using a combination of her Betazoid and Vulcan Mind-meld techniques. Seth was glad that her unique abilities because of her Vulcan/Betazoid heritage was looked upon in such a positive way on Betazed compared to Vulcan. She seemed to smile much more often because of it.

After receiving her Masters from the Telepathic Academy on Betazed, Seth decided it was time to venture out and see more of the galaxy. At 43 seasons, She left Betazed for San Francisco and Starfleet Academy.

Finally Seth had found her place in life. The people at Starfleet were much more accepting of her mixed Betazoid / Vulcan heritage and were not phased by her occasional show of emotions, or her abilities to communicate telepathically. Seth flourished in her studies. By her fourth year she was head of her class and was posted to the USS Enterprise-D for her cadet cruise; the flagship of the fleet! Sadly, Seth received her posting to the Enterprise-D just a short time after her mother's brother, Tam Elbrun, was lost to the object refereed to as "Tin man" by Starfleet Command. No one has heard anything for Tam since he disappeared with the alien craft.

At Starfleet Academy, Seth studied all of the basic, required courses and excelled at all of them. However, it was her passion for the Sciences and Medicine that made her decide on her future career path. Following her personal interests, and to honor her mother Neve, Seth decide to take the challenge of going into medicine to become a qualified Starfleet Doctor and Surgeon. It was one of the biggest career challenges Starfleet had to offer, but Seth's love of learning and the ease in which her eidetic memory absorbed the information in Vulcan fashion made it a labor of love.

During her sixth year of Starfleet Medical training, Seth was stationed on the USS Pasteur where she served out her medical internship in the last year and a half of the vicious Dominion war. When the war ended, Seth was awarded the Starfleet Purple Heart for her noble service rendering medical aide on the battle lines under the most severe of conditions.

Upon graduation from Starfleet Medical and receiving certification as a qualified Starfleet Doctor and Surgeon, Seth received a posting to the USS Sulu, an Excelsior class starship. Seth looks forward to applying her years of training, abilities and medical skills to actual use on board a Federation Starship.

Seth is a contradiction of the typical Vulcan stereo type. Outwardly she looks to be a Vulcan woman. However her personality is anything but. Seth is a passionate person. She enjoys life and her job as a Doctor on board a Federation Starship. She has been known to have an exceptional bedside manner and smiles constantly without inhibition; which is an odd sight given her Vulcan appearance. Seth is an extremely intelligent, educated officer. Her understanding and expertise in a number of areas gives her a strong foundation upon which to communicate and relate to any member of the crew.

Seth is an attractive woman. She is 55 Terran years old, but her Vulcan heritage gives her the appearance of a woman in her late twenties. She has the typical pointed ears and arched eyebrows associated with Vulcans, but because of her Betazoid half she is often seen showing a warm friendly smile, and even flirting when she walks. Seth has an athletic build and is quite tall. She has long black hair that she typically keeps braided in a pony tail when on duty.

When off duty, Seth enjoys playing her Vulcan lute and singing love songs in the ship's lounge. Seth is an accomplished holodeck programmer and enjoys creating special programs to share with others. Seth continues to keep physically sharp by practicing her Vulcan martial arts with both armed and unarmed combat to maintain her skills and current pon ratings she has obtained. Seth's pet selat, I-Chaya, is staying with her mother on Betazed, as a creature with six inch fangs doesn't make a convenient pet on board a starship. Seth misses I-Chaya, but does have a pet snake, Julia, that she keeps in her quarters.
